First of all, the two paintings share the same theme which is family. Freedom from Want shows a family of about eleven people gathered around the table for a Thanksgiving dinner. The people in the painting look happy to be sitting together and having dinner. The family looks as if their financial status is well. Thanksgiving shows a group of three gathered in a smaller place. Although these three people do not look as excited as the people in the first painting, they still are gathered around the table for Thanksgiving dinner.
These two paintings are different in their emotion. As mentioned in the first paragraph, the people in Freedom from Want look excited to be where they currently are. The people in Thanksgiving do not look that excited to be where they currently are. A conclusion can be drawn that the people in the second painting are grateful for what they have but probably would like to have what the people in the first painting have. The people in the first painting have plenty of food but are probably not grateful to have that food because the title of the painting is Freedom from Want.

The "Point by Point Compare and Contrast" assignment was five paragraph essay that was used to compare and contrast two famous paintings. The first painting is titled "Freedom from Want" by Norman Rockwell. The second painting is titled "Thanksgiving" by John Currin. In this essay, The features I analyzed in these two paintings were similar to the features analyzed in the Six Word Memoir pictures such as their shape, color, lines, size, and copyright status.
The challenges I faced in this assignment were trying to figure out the similarities and differences that these pictures have. I overcame my challenges by creating a Venn Diagram and listing the similarities and differences. This assignment taught me how to wrap references around the pictures and how to merge them in the text. I can use my knowledge of this assignment in the future if I am ever given a compare and contrast paper.
